We have a cold front moving in, where mike and josh are the temps have dropped to the 40's but we are at 70. They have 2 tornados warning out not near me yet. But have thunderstorms coming our way with sheering winds:eek: I hate storms like this. Thank god, joe got those big trees cut down by the house. Need to go and batton down the hatches. Joe will kill me if I let his grill blow away. :ohmy

Thanks trip, Joe moved the grill this morning before he left I guess, and the lawnmower is covered up too. I've started supper so it will be done hopefully before it gets here in case elec goes out. Hooked the laptop up to make sure it has a full charge on it in case I have to run on battery atleast I can work in my css book like that.:biggrin got to keep ones Priorities straight you know. All oil lamps are filled and in the living room. Glad I use them for pretteries too.

You get it bad over there, hope you get through ok.

People think we get it bad over here but its nothing to worry about with us. We are supposed to get the backlash of your cold snap at the weekend.

Well the rain is starting to hit, and they said that it just took a barn down next town over. It just starting to move in on us. It is moving fast so hopefully will not last long. I just hate being alone with these kind of storms. But I have an interior closet clean out and I get me and all the dogs in it if I have to. Am gonna sign off for now.

I remember a few bad storms when I was living in Houston
I used to sit out on the porch and watch them (getting drenched in the process) always been a fan of violent electrical storms, not to keen on tornadoes though so hang in there folks!!

Was always fun seeing the folks trying to leave the apartment complex when the powers out, obviously all the automatic gates stop working, didnt seem to click with them though :)

well they have blown through and not that bad on our end. Joe said he had to pull over for while where he was at because of visiblity on the roads and high winds. We still have the winds so hopefully everything will dry out fast. Temps have fallen fast though.

That must have been an extremely slow-moving system... we got everything yesterday and early this morning. We just about got blown off our feet going to lunch yesterday!

No we had the winds since yesterday too. Its the cold front coming in behind it that kicked up the storms. News channel 5 was tracking everything on TV around 2 today. They had 2 tornado warnings one for smithville and around murfeesboro somewhere. I can't belive you worked though all that crap. Did you not even get any rain today?

Glad you're safe. Makes me glad here in Cayman we are still in dry season for a little longer. However hurricane season is only just around the corner and we'll be having to get the wood nailed over our windows for the next 6 months or so again. *sigh* :(

Hopefully 2008 will spare Cayman another 'Ivan', or at worst a 'Dean' scare. Fingers crossed...

I even went out for lunch, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary... a little wind (barely more than a breeze), but no rain. <shrug>

Well you should stop eating those beans!

Anyway glad it wasnt too rough for ya Mitzs and for you BM. It is starting to get colder here but no bad wind yet. I was concerned last week as i was out in Holland and there were severe winds in the UK. I didnt fancy flying back in that (especialy after seeing the clip of the plane landing sidewards!), but by the time i had to fly home it was all generally calm.

Glad you are all safe. Howmany of those storms do you normally get in a year? I read at www.tornadochaser.net Tennesee is in a range from 1 to 10 depending on the place in the state. Are those tornados the heavy ones or are you spared of those F4's and F5's?

We could, theoretically, get just about any strength tornado.

Average? That's like asking, "What's the average strength hurricane that plows through an area?"

Plus, there are so many other factors that are just as important as wind speed. What's the path size, a few feet or a few MILES? Is the system moving slowly? Is it meandering?

There probably IS an average... but when bad storms are coming, you really have no idea what you're gonna get.
