Just a quick hello, have gained some interesting and hopefully useful insights viewing the various threads. So its about time I posted.
I am currently studying A+ Essentials and on a path to eventually achieve MCSE. Not sure how long this will take but am prepared to put in the effort. Its a bit of stuggle as apart from using PCs and a bit of telephone guided fixing from a mate in the trade, I'm new to the technical side of computers.
Sympathise with others using training providers, I am fully commited to advent but would echo other postings urging caution. They don't provide much in the way of materials and do take alot of money. Although I'm not sure I would stay the course without the financial committment. I am working full time and bringing up kids. It is in effect self study as one or two of you have already implied. Trying to use every available hour wisely to do justice to family, work and study. Realising just how short 24 hours actually is!
All that said I am enjoying learning about computers and strangely enough find it stimulating, even the little I have learned about networking - enough to be confused and fascinated in equal measure.
Thanks for interesting info about reading material, have invested in PC Technician. Expecting from reviews on Amazon that it will be more helpful than the Advent textbooks, which are not well set out.
