    Hi,

There are different levels of ISEB Software Testing certifications - Foundation, Intermediate and Practitioner. Has anyone done these - can I sit the Foundation and Intermediate without attending an instructor led course i.e. will I realistically get the information from a book and the real-world?

    Thanks

I say, you need to read the books, but not sure how you get on without the instructor training.
Real world + ITIL = FAIL! I have not yet heard of a company that abides fully to the guidelines of ITIL

...but why do you want to study ITIL for?

I am not actually sure he wants ITIL, I think he is actually talking about this.

More information can be found here.

I would always suggest actually looking on the vendors website for a definitive answer, what someone here knows and what's actually correct could be vastly different.

You may also want to read my extensive post HERE :biggrin

For software testing ISEB is a well recognised exam. However, like many professional certs they are quite difficult and my impression from BCS is that once you get above Foundation level they more or less "insist" you go via a recognised training course with a provider. Of course, they expect employers to be paying for the course so if you're not working in that area and having to self fund it can be very expensive.

If you wnat more info I'd also suggest going along to a local BCS meeting where you can network with other IT professionals and speak to them about how they undertook the exams.

I just passed my ITIL foundation exams via 100% self study, so yes you can

    My study material cost £18
    http://www.selfstudy.org.uk/itil

I used a online study materials and went through the past papers

    Costs £108 for the exam.
Booked my exam at a Prometric web site, choose EXIN as exam provider and then EX0-101 ITIL Foundation v3

Studies for about 18hours, got through the exam with 96%

The ISEB Foundation in software testing is just fine. Get the foundation textbook. It's about 200 pages. If you want to be sure, order the sample paper from ISEB - around £22 I think. The exam is straight forward.

There is also a second textbook for the Intermediate exam, which is equally well written. I would think most people would be fine just reading those.

Its not ITIL as mentioned, it's ISEB Testing, its the only testing or ISEB cert I've ever seen anyone take or request. Doesn't sound too hard, not sure if its worth the cost as with most ISEB exams...

You will be shot down as exam dumps are pointless and bad for the industry. If you dont know the material then dont sit the exam, simples
