This belongs in "Hardware" only in the broadest sense of the term. I just read this one last night and IPS is the hier apparent to IDS. It's still new, so sysadmins are approaching it like a rattlesnake a migrane but it sounds like in six months it will be a major player in enterprise security. Here's the write up from Network World.
