    Hi everyone,

My names mark i'm from london. I've used computers nearly all my lifes translated 'Yes i've played THAT many games'. I'm 24 and currently looking to study A+ and networking+ before moving on to mcsa, mcse etc. I've worked in various industries, door to door, telesales, sainsburys, forte posthouse before finally realising i'm wasting my damn time  . I'm a moderator at a footy website. I'm learning piano and starting from basics. I've tried java programming, database entry, software testing but now i'm older i'm looking just to knuckle down and am looking forward to progressing. Studying from home which is reasonably quiet but i'm more joyed about saving travel money etc 8)

Greetings, striker10. Welcome to CertForums. You've come to the right place. If you are interesting in starting out with your A+ cert (excellent choice by the way) you might want to hop down to the A+ and Hardware and Upgrades forums and take a look around. Chances are at least some of your questions might be answered there. The general opinion in these parts is that the Mike Meyers text is the best one to study from. Of course, it will also help to have a couple of PCs handy that you can open up and dink around with and a few necessary tools (with few exceptions, I have found I use ordinary flat head and phillips screw drivers).

Let us know if you have any particular questions or study tips. You can also feel free to let your hair down a bit in our off topic and humor forums. Enjoy.

:berrr My Aussie fridge, which is nearly six feet tall is stacked with VB stubbies mate and you are more than welcome to pop over and sample a few along with some nice Aussie Red :thumbleft

'Tis my brain lubricant of choice, nothing like a few VBs to help understand those ISA packet and application filters

Just remember I live in a more rural area than where "I am a celebrity, get me out of here" is shot. That is actually shot in Coolangatta, home of The Gold Coast airport and is a civilised area in comparison

But you are indeed welcome, just bring your own mossie nets and tick repellant!
