I'm preparing for a interview coming up this week. One of the questions I might be asked is along the lines ....

A user reports that a desktop shortcut to a programme is not working. What do you do to resolve the problem?
I presume there are several possible answers, e.g.
    1. The user's profile has been corrupted. Restore the profile.
    2. The programme has somehow been uinstalled. Reinstall it.
    3. Make sure the shorcut is pointing (target in shortcut properties) to the correct programme.
Are my answers along the right lines?

    Yes.

Also the user may have a roaming profile and has logged onto a different PC that does not have the software package installed.

I would also ask the user what the full error message is as well. 8)
