Invest in a good ADSL modem\router and you will see an improvement :biggrin

I've now looked this modem up and a sudden wave of ancient history hit me. This is the unit that 1) overheated and had to be replaced and 2) got finaly relegated when I got a good modem/router!

It is a minimal spec limited software unit, and BT crippled it.

    Replace it!

errr - its still slow... when i reset the bugger, my speed increased on my pc, but now im on my laptop, its still slow...

would this be because it looks for the first primary dns server, then alternative server and finally mine? (if this is the case, i would of thought that this process would be extremley quick)

    any ideas?

I would say you are correct. Your primary DNS server will be queried first, hence it should be contactable or it will slow the name resolution process down.

i sorted it, did not create a batch file in the end...

i simply the changed the settingd to obtain a DNS automatically, worked ok at home and luckily worked ok here at work...

I noted the original DNS settings in a .txt file on my desktop...

i think i've lost my memory pen!

Does anyone know where i can find it?
