Using the MSpress book for 70-270 exam, currently learning about
the anonymous group which I am finding difficult to understand.
What is the purpose of this group? Doesn't it pose a security risk?
How I interpret this group is for access to a system without credentials.

Thanks for clarifying the scope of this group

    Happy studies

The Anonymous group is a built in security identifier (not a member of the Everyone group)
Basically its for users or services to access resources, examples getting names of domain accounts , network shares etc, over a network anonymously. Its not really used much these days as you will see from user rights..

and example would be the user right ...

Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares

this switches the availability to anonymous users,
