Lets say you won 50 million, would you instantly quit your job? I would, I would simply not turnup for work or I'd go in late and when my boss asks why Im late I just open a big bottle of champagne and soak everyone in it. Id also give 30k to everyone if they walkout with me.

    10000000000000000000000000% Yes!!!

Don't get me wrong, I like where I work, but I would literally walk in the office, collect my stuff and leave, 30 Seconds max, then I would obviously call my line manager (Who is based in Leeds, I work in London) and explain the situation.

Shoot over the boss store and get a few suits, then to another store and pick up some holiday clothes.

Phone the elite travel agent on the journey home, and have a 1st Class flight(s) along with Chauffer pick me up the next morning.

    1. In all honesty, there is 0 motivation for me. I will never "work" again.

    2. Me and my 50 Million quid would be taking up a job that someone else needs to pay their mortgage. I don't need that.

    3. The world is a very big place and there are a lot of places I want to see. I would start straight away.

I think in life its important to stick to your word, so I would hand my notice in and work it if they wanted me to. Sometimes employers will let you leave. In the mean time I would enjoy occasionally going into the office in my crazy car and use my breaks to book holidays and house hunt. I think a much better, harder question for the likes of me is... Would you quit if you won 2 million.... In that case possibly not because you have to think about what you would want to buy, give to family etc. A mansion around my ways costs about 2.4 so I already can't have one of the best houses for that. Say I spent 1.2 on a very lovely house, that only leaves me with 800k before family want a slice. 2 million would change my life but I'd have to be very careful or I could run into cash flow problems without a job. Especially if a person tied a lot of it up in property. Personally I would spend the bulk of that on my portfolio to have a great monthly income

Agree with this mate, but do you think your employer would make you stay on?
In my situation, I assume (I may be wrong) that we could negotiate something.

As I've got older I've started to plan my retirement. One important thing to do is question what you need and what type lifestyle. If you require £50m then that's quite a big problem. Why would you need boss suits when you don't have a job?

I've been to ~120 countries, you don't need £50m to travel, students do it on their gap year.

Chances of a big lottery win are slim, better to work with what you've got.

I'd like to think if you explained what had happened they would let you go but who knows mate, could be a mad rush if there was something only you knew. If common sense prevailed they would appreciate you'll be a little distracted having all of your money worries for life erased in one go. It must be a liberating feeling to have no mortgage and anything be possible

I agree mate, always plan to win nothing and get help from no one. If you do get help or win anything, its a genuine bonus. I like that I came from a poor background and wanted more for myself, no one can say I don't deserve it and if they do, they're an idiot :forrest:

System Center, specifically Configuration Manager, as that's my strongest skill.

Before i left the UK there were rates of around 5 - 600 per day on SCCM contracts, not sure if that's still the case now as I've moved to the US, but the demand for ConfigMgr 2012 skills is huge over here, i think this has been heightened with MS's release of current branch and managing Win10 through SCCM with the serviced updates plans etc.

Usually a lottery win brings out distant relatives you've never heard of who are looking for hand-outs. Probably best to keep it as quiet as possible. The lottery company usually sends out a financial expert and I have read they recommend going nuts on a tiny percentage of the winnings.

Actually I wouldn't give up work, I love technology too much, I would build my own mini DC at the mansion to play with and have a stonking internet pipe to play with (as well as a VR lounge to play in).

Actually I got bored with SCCM and am glad I moved on from it, it was meh by the time I got out of it (having been involved with SMS 2003 and onwards I needed a change of scenery which I got with the VMware stack).

Why would I need a job when I have 50 Million pounds in the bank earning interest?
Students do travel, but they don't stay in 5* hotels and fly first class like I would if I won the lottery.

I didn't say keep a job, you'd be right to quit. My point is 50m wet dream is pointless navel gazing, do something real instead. Bragging about how to spend virtual money is pointless.

Instead why not ask yourself what money is? Where does it come from? Why does it control your life?

Why do you feel the need to fly first class or stay 5*, why not live the best life you can right now, you can visit the same countries and swim in the same oceans...
