I have a new laptop with Windows 7 & IE8
The web pages load very very slow.
Is there something I can do to fix this?

Install Chrome/Opera/Firefox/anything else except safari.

 

I'm running Win 7 and IE8 and I don't notice any issues with it. I don't use it much though. Definitely try a different browser and see how it does. If it's a new machine make sure all the updates are installed. Have you done a tracert to see if maybe it's not a browser issue. Are you connected via wireless? If so have you tried plugging in to see if that is any better?
