    WELL DONE

Getting "The Beast" out of the way is a major move towards your MCSE. When I did it there was just a pass/fail mark interesting to see that they have moved back to giving people a score. I did like the pass/fail mark as the score is of little use as each exam is unique.

Cheers Mr Garrity! The congrats are not complete untill I get one from the "daddy" of the NITLC forums! LOL :)

I'm glad this one is out of the way cos' I was starting to dream about the subject matter...I remember one I had on Push/Pull replication for WINS??? lol!

I must admit that now I have got it I feel like a "proper" MCSA...but I'm real glad that I did the N+ before it!

The exam itself was quite good, I felt that the subject matter that I was quizzed on was fair. I was amazed that I only got one question on WINS - I got it right judging by the WINS score indicator being all the way to the max on the results sheet! I had zero questions on RAS policies and profiles? As for subnetting, well they were easy as I had memorised the network numbers and host numbers...all thanks to the CCNA book! But I also took into account that M$ includes the 2 networks addresses and Cisco subtracts them - M$ works to a newer RFC then Cisco, even though Cisco routers support the 2 network addresses (all the zeros and all the ones)...all very confusing!

    Damn...I've confused myself again! Nevermind!!

    Cheers

    Sacha

That is really great drum_dude, you should be proud of yourself. 216 can be really tough for some people, I know I failed the damn thing the first time around. What Sandy said is true, having sat it twice I can say they were two entirely different exams.

The subjects covered in 216 are by far the most interesting in the whole MCSE track and the most challenging.

Congrats and hats off to you 8)

Gosh - am I really know as that? :D Not been in there since I completed the course and posted my own epitaph. My current mission is a BEng with the Open University and it is keeping me pretty busy I can tell you! :blink Hope to finish the first half of my degree by Jan 2006 currently studying Object Orientated Programming and Maths.

If you are planning to do the Network Design exam I'd do that next! If the Active Directory Design exam is your goal I'd suggest doing 217 and 219 within a week of each other.

    Hi Sandy,

I will be looking at the OU route when I finish this round of certs - MCSE & CCNA...Looking to do the BSc computing route...but we'll see! :)

I'm currently battling my way thru 70-217...I have scheduled the exam for this around the April 8th date. Should I be reading on 70-219 too or should pick the book up straight after passing 217?

I have no plans to do Network Design Exam as yet :)...

    Cheers

Hi Sacha219 is just the application of 217 read them at the same time - design exams are diffrent. You are given lots and lots on "case study background" then 10 or 20 questions. When I did the exams once you had finished a case study you could not go back!

I usually read the questions then the case study you knew what you were looking for.

OU is fun the teaching materials are brill (well they should be they have been doing it for 30 years). They are offering a CCNA as part of the degree now.

Thanks for that Sandy, I'll pursue both 217 and 219 at the same time!

I coughed up to NITLC for my CCNA as it is part of my TSE course...I just gotta get the whole lot wrapped up soon to be honest! Kinda became a bit of a slacker and now I'm in a hurry to get it done! Then onto 2003 upgrade...then something academic...such as an OU degree!

    Cheers for your advice
