Sheep have problems climbing the rope, so we have to leave them at the bottom of the mountain.

Well, I knew Scotland was pretty rugged so that the very northern part of England probably was fairly mountainous too, but my idea of the southern half of the main isle was that it was pretty flat, that it probably had some rolling hills, but nothing rugged. I always also had the idea that most of the isle was pretty well-watered as all I've ever heard about was the rainy weather in England, but this picture shows a rather arid landscape.

As to the quality of the picture itself, well, that was taken with a camera I would like to get one of these days, a Sigma SD14.

I went to Pwllheli on the weekend in North Wales. I can tell ya its no fun driving at night when you have a 100 foot drop on ones side and only a wire fence to stop ya going over!
However the scenery is one of the best! Was the same when i went to the Brecons years ago.

    Hey, flat-slightly-below-sea-level-county-boy!
Our wellies has to be big, cos you knows what they says about big feet...

    :biggrin

Seriously though, I'm not actually Welsh so I'm sort of impartial.

I've done a lot of travelling, including the US and the 'eastern block', but Wales is amazing because there are such diverse environments within such a small space.

There are snow capped mountains a short distance from holiday beaches. It is industrial, cosmopolitan and rural all within a few square miles.

OK, we don't have a grand canyon, but the ditch down by me is quite impressive!

And for those what don't know, what others may call a hill, we call a mountain. Right!

Lol johnny. I did live in Wales for 10 years! as a kid and adult and i'm not a below sea level country boy, I'm actually from North devon, where we have Exmoor for our Views and can wave at Wales from the beach!

Used to live 35 miles or so from Newport, lil place called Llantwit Major (llanilltud fawr in welsh) and the beach there has rocks liek i've never seen anywhere else. The rocks are straight like bowling alley lanes on ones ide of the beach and the size of bowling balls on the other!.

Mind you i do prefer Exmoor and Dartmoor to the welsh Valleys. Especially ona winters day.

Norfolk feels so different with its flat lands and no hills!
