Our ambition is to create the highest-quality practice test products out there... not to own a company. So we're already well-placed to do just that. We don't run the development department, but our guidance has already resulted in a monumental shift in how products are created. Because we know how to create high-quality products, Boson's management trusts us to make good decisions regarding practice exam development.

If Josh and I didn't believe Boson was the right place to go in order to make our dreams a reality, we'd never have come here. Fact is, Boson employs (and is OWNED by) many people from the "old days" at Transcender (including Josh and myself), and we want to put quality back into practice exam preparation products. You may not know it, but that's been absent for far too long.

Sorry to sound like an advertisement... but certification is very near and dear to my heart. If it weren't... I wouldn't have quit Transcender to create my own practice exam company... I would have just continued to work as a senior network admin for a healthcare company, which I was enjoying greatly. Boson will certainly enable me and Josh to be a vital part of certification training yet again. :)

Gav no need to apologise as I have been very tempted to post the exact same points on many occasions! I don't know why he gets so emotional when someone tells him to look it up himself? Can you imagine what he'd be like supporting users?

Don't beat yourself up about it Gav - what you said was the truth!

I think that the 'Prof' needs to research answers before posting. Lazy thinkers rub me the wrong way. Just go and sort out the problem.

Maybe the 'prof' thinks thats what the forums for, so he does not have to think for himself or seek out the answers by looking for himself.

Well someone has to ask the question somewhere on a forum so many of us can ‘Google’ the same problem and get a possible answer.

On the other hand the old ‘floppy disk stuck in a disk drive’ problem doesn’t really merit a thread these days does it? <flashback to old NT workstation desktop support days> arrrrrgh!

In answer to the original question try sticking a pen in the drive and then ring IT support, happy days! :biggrin

Guys, can we stop piling on P_F here please ? However the original point was asked, and responded to, I don't think taking repeated shots it one Member makes anyone look good, and I've already said I hope P_F doesn't leave the boards as a result of this... which will probs happen soon if this continues.

I've asked a Sen Mod to come in on here, as it's no place of mine to say.

    Thanks.

Ok.. senior mod hat on.. lets lay off the personal attacks guys, there is no need, there is no advantage to be gained. It's clear to me that PF is a sensitive guy and he is doing his utmost to learn this trade. he is asking us for help, lets give him help in a manner that isn't humiliating.

I hope you don't leave the boards too PF, it would be a sad day if that happened. However, i do know from personal experience that Internet forums can seem daunting to people that are a tad *thin skinned* .. it's easy to get hurt and depressed by others words even if they weren't intended to be condiscending at all.

Oh.. and personally, i would just take the floopy drive out and throw is in the bin. Most new computers don't come with them nowadays as the 1.4MB storage isn't sufficient to store todays massive data files :)

Because you can use a CD or flash drive, usb key or whatever you want to call it.

Theres no need for floppys in this day and age.

I could be totally wrong here, but isn't the floppy drive the only component that doesn't require a driver of any kind to be used. It just requires the motherboard controller? I've found it very handy for recovery.

    Don't quote me on that.

Well there is pretty much 1 or 2 drivers out there that works for pretty much on all FD's and windows includes those drivers.

Just carry a floppy drive around with you or have it as part of your tool kit. There really isn't much need for one to be permanently installed in PCs these days.

That is, in new, modern computers. There are loads of computers out there not so modern; systems sometimes simple need a floppy.
I suggest replacing the drive if you can't get it out. They are not expencive anymore and many old computers have floppy drives, so a second hand replacement is also an option.

If I have a new system with NO os installed, the floppydrive still works. No windows driver at that point.

That's exactly what I do. We use floppies for putting on our Ghost images, as well as other sundry things.

Aside from anything else, floppy disks are cheap. I don't know if you all work for Nirvana Co, but I don't think our bosses would chuck flash drives at everyone to use. Aside from the network security risk of users getting their paws on them, they go walkies too. I'd be a lot less upset about loosing a floppy than a pen drive :)

I guess it's not very difficult to troubleshoot.Floopy device is a very mechanical kind of stuff so just take it out of your maschine try to open it. Just understand its working process when u remove the cover. and u will understand wheres the pain.
