When I was at the OU, my tutor was a Reiki Master.

Juice, your post has actually angered me a great deal. If you have drawn these conclusions after reading this thread you've got the very wrong end of a very long stick. Please show me somewhere in this entire forum that says CF is better than TE. Can you also show me somewhere that says anyone has fallen out? No. Freddy has been putting his time and effort into a project he felt worthwhile and now feels let down by a lack of honesty from his (colleagues?). The people who have responded to his post have shown sympathy, happiness at seeing Freddy back here (even if it is perhaps only temporary - I for one hope it is a long term move), and complete neutrality towards Techexams. If you've interpreted it in a different way, then please explain how.

 

Guys, it's not my place to say but I think this is off topic.
CF isn't out to win against others, it's just a place to provide help and support for people who want it.

I agree too if this is going to become a "let's slate Techexams" thread, but my point previously was that I don't think it has (yet). Can we concentrate on the return of the prodigal son?

I had never heard, until Freddy's posting today, of the other forum.
I felt that, because of my enjoyment of this (CF) site that I'd take a look.
My comments here are, in part, to do with this thread, but only after taking a look at what you are all posting about.
My comments are not aimed at any person in particular, or meant to inflame emotion in you or anybody else.
The only feeling I have is one of sadness.

Too many issues to mention in one rational (hopefully) post, but I would like to say a couple of things:

1.) CF have never since TE began taken a hostile or negative approach to that site - if that were the case, then we could have banned, demoted, or removed certain privileges from quite a few members already. I would like think to we are a little bigger and more mature than that though.

2.) I'm sorry to see another IT cert-focused site run into problems. It's not the first time, but maybe there is a way back for that site - I do not believe it is for me or any CF staff to comment further.

3.) Freddy - let's get the gloves off and call a spade a spade. Unless I am much mistaken (however I know you give me some credit at least) - you left due to my response to your comments re your take on Microsoft. I stand by my opinion, if perhaps not the way I delivered it (as admin of a public forum). Please, if you do nothing more here - read and accept the following.

You are missed here, you were a massive member here. Many of our fold would like to see you return. You had a home here, you left. If you want to have a place here once more, I would shake your virtual hand and break bread with you - if not, that's fair enough. I'll leave it at that.

I still have to laugh when I think about how I read your sig as "Gay" when I first signed up here....

I hold no ill will against you. I think you, along with a lot of other people around here think I have a personal vendetta against MS. Let me say this again: I do not have a vendetta against MS. I dislike what they do, how they go about conducting their business, and the ways they try to disguise their real intentions.

This is about principles, not personalities, with me. Our world would be a much better place to live if the corporations that have great influence, and politicians, would act ethically, and with compassion. The large corporations make billions of dollars and are unsatisfied with that. Why? For the stockholders? I doubt it. It's so upper management can make their 7, 8, and 9 figure salaries. It's about personal greed and wanting a reputation, as these guys are not satisfied with having more money than they will ever be able to throw away while many of the worker drones live in poverty and despair.

This behavior I despise. It is the cause of huge amounts of unnecessary suffering and crime, and tears down our societies. How? By creating a climate of greed that comes from the envy of those who can never reach that level.

The greed pushes illegal drug sales--the pushers all want to be fantastically wealthy so they can have what these "legitimate" businessmen have. That results in crime and misery untold. It pushes many people into lives ruled by the finance companies. They are deeply in debt to support the lifestyle they can't pssibly afford, and the financial institutions charge usurious interest rates to lend. How many fights inside a marriage are over money? How many divorces can point to a root cause of money, or the lack of it?

So, this is an IT forum and MS is the face of greed in the IT world. I don't know very many people who would deny that fact. So, when you see me pointing out MS's warts, it's not because of personal animosity, it's because I see what their leadership does to my fellow man. I hate what it does to my fellow man, and I must fight against what I see causing so much harm. I cannot help it, it springs from within me with a force I cannot stop. It is who I am.... I cannot do much more than communicate on this issue, but I can communicate fairly powerfully, and so I use the only weapon at my disposal to fight what I abhor.

I am late to this thread, thanks to the time differences and would just like to say a couple of things.

Firstly I am saddened that things didn't work out for Freddy and others on TE.

Secondly, lets build bridges not barriers between ourselves.

 

I'm with Blue on this about the barriers. I've know freddy for a while. He is not trying to attack anyone. Just get his name cleared. He has just gone to sites where he knows he has friends and can talk about it. Just like the rest of us do when we have something wrong in our life. Freddy would seem you are surround by people that care about you all over the world. I think that speaks for itself.

Besides, I've missed d-Faktor, and haven't seen the claws come out quite like *that* before -- seems to have built up a fair amount of angst

I tried to resurrect what I thought was a severely inactive user account here, but I may have never even posted. Regardless, let's see if we can both stay in one place, Freddy. We're a bit long in the tooth, and moving anything has sucked since I left my 20's!

anyway, how are you? it's been what, a year? i won't ask you to drop by regularly (even though i'd really like that), because i myself have been lurking at tech-unity.com without posting as much as an occasional "hi". but it's definitely good to see you again.

 

just to let you guys know i pulled out too and freddy and mine admin rights were stripped rightfully and even our threads we created to say we leaving were deleted. just goes to show. but im forgetting them and concentrating on my studying and CF! Got 3 big exams in the next 4 months!

I am sad to see the end of TE I am not comparing TE to CF and neither should anyone else! However I can't help think what a waste, all that time you, freddy and the other members put into it! Will that information and advice be lost forever?

Surely the author of the site should leave a note to explain his actions and close the site?
