    Hello again!

All is well here, the hurricane is well clear of Cayman now. Thank you so much for your kind well wishes!

Yesterday I was unable to get online as we had no power for some time and a curfew was in place so I couldn't get home for a while. Hence no textual communique!

For a Category 2/3 hurricane, I think we got off rather lightly compared to Cuba, Jamaica and Haiti. Although yesterday we went out for a look around and there was isolated incidents of structual damage showing Gustav clearly meant business here.

We were with friends and stayed up rather late drinking Sparks and playing everybody's 'when the electric goes out what now?' favourite Monopoly until I had $3 left and was mortgaged up to the hilt and declared to one and all "I suck at Monopoly". We all hit the sack (then went to bed haha) at around 1:30am. I slept right through the storm when it was here at it's peak. The others said it woke them up it was so violent.

I think in short that Gustav has been very lenient on us. He gave us a quick slap in the face to let us know he was here but quickly moved on causing very little damage. I just hope and pray that those in Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Hispanola and the Dominican Republic are all ok and quickly on the mend.

I also hope we do not see a repeat of Katrina and hope everyone in the areas of the USA Gustav is forecast to hit stay safe and well. Lets hope Gustav continues to weaken...

Thank goodness you are OK mate. It looked bad on the news.

I hope the people in the States fare as well as you seemed to have done.

    Glad you're ok delorean!

My missus' mum is on holiday in the Dominican Republic, was kinda worrying as she didn't reply to our phone calls, but finally got in touch yesterday to say it was around cat4 when it hit there but all is ok :D Luckily, Gustav had only given her location the elbow.

Looks like the big fella is weakened to cat2 whilst hitting louisiana coast.

500 years ago, John Dunne said "Never send to know for whom the bell tolls..." One of our own made it through Gustav OK, but thousands of others are still at risk. Even though we don't know them and will probably never know them, we should focus all our hopes and prayers for their safety and well being.
