Hi guys

Just wondering if anyone new about a simulation software package - similar to the cisco boson simulator - where you can practice programming HP Procurve switches?

Just been learning the basics of this and would like the chance to practice safely

We use Procurves at work - the core switch in our main datacentre is an 8212 (an absolute beast, and half the price of the equivalent Cisco range).

AFAIK there are no simulators available for Procurve though.

Shame about the simulator as all our swiches are procurves - maybe I need to get one off ebay and play about with it

Oh yeah - its awesome. Had one blip with it (about a month before I started with the company, thankfully) where the management module went down with no warning - and apparently for no reason - taking the whole switch down. Didn't last long, but enough to have everyone questioning whether it was a wise investment. Thankfully, since then, we've had nothing fail on it and its a cinch to manage compared to a Cisco.

You can get decent procurve's on fleabay for about 100 quid - buy a couple of them and they'll help you understand the intricacies (such as there are!) of the OS
