Afraid to say mine was no better!
The '3 month contract' that has been rolling on and on is now at almost 2 years and I'd already agreed a new pay-structure for the next roll-over (that would have taken me to next May at least), but it has fallen into farce at the last hurdle.

I felt that the role has grown with me during my tenure as I have with the role, and I've always tried to fit in where I was needed which helped the dept. and also gave me meaningful exposure to many and varied systems but the manager's "dept. restructuring" which was introduced as a measure to help lessen the calls has reverted to a 'save all the perms jobs and give the sh*t stuff to the contractor'!

Woohoo, unimpressed! Will probably have to walk at the end of the month now as I have no wish to enter the world of 'install Adobe Reader onto 10 PC's today'...

Another boring day in work, and then an hour of getting dragged around the gym.

 

Yeah, but I am 5'8 and 16st. Be dead by the time I am 35 the way I am going!

 

Me too! Actually even though I am holiday, I am still doing some lab/studies... IT work never ends!

 

Ended up on site all morning running diagnostics on a failed laptop whilst finally getting around to cleaning up their IT storage area (they've just gone onto a contract with us and lets say the area had been used as a dumping ground for the past 10 years).

So kinda dusty and still with an unresolved laptop sitting next to but sunshine and coffee is making the afternoon better

 

My best friend from school was just on Pointless. That was weird.

 

Yesterday was a good day - last day at my current job. Not because i didn't like the place, but looking forward to the new challenge!

I now have 3 days off before starting at the new place on Monday. I was asked earlier in the week to hand my passport in as they needed to send it for a visa. Turns out they have a project lined up which is in Azerbaijan! Exciting times!

played miniature table tennis during my lunch break and then continued to roll out Windows 7 in the afternoon without any hiccups. a good day today.

 

Congrats Daniel! This sounds amazing, although admittedly I had to check on a map wher Azerbaijan is. .

My days are not great lately. Loads of stress and lack of job satisfaction but today I met with my former boss for drinks (we've stayed in touch since I left) and he has suggested that there might be an IT Manager position available and wanted to know if I would be interested. I've been thinking into going the management route as I like to look at the bigger picture and benefits for the business.

From what he said they're growing massively and need a complete revamp of the infrastructure (which by the way was originally designed and deployed by me and is still in great condition). Hopefully something's gonna come out of it. Fingers crossed!

I ended up ordering the EVGA GTX 560 Ti SC edition lol... and worked a bit on my blog... feels great to have some time off... although I tend to spend money when I have time off so that's not good!
