Using a insider preview. Cannot find out to upgrade to Win 10.

I have a friend using technical preview, how would he?

Any information would be appreciated, like always

    Go to here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Download your required version, choose the desired format (USB or DVD ISO), run setup.exe from the extracted or mounted image and off you go.

It's a fairly straight forward process, just time consuming

Well running setup is classed as an upgrade, you should be given two options, the first to retain all the user information, the second to delete it all.

If you want a fresh installation you need to boot from the ISO or USB drive and do so from there.

right well I'm currently upgrading to windows 10, got a nice message saying to feel free to keep using my computer, guessing the install in pretty much automated, hope it doesn't take too long though, thanks for the info Simon.

hmmm well I ran the setup, did everything in the setup, last step was that it was installing windows media 10, got to 100% and then the setup closed and then nothing?

Juelz, the upgrade took a couple of hours for me, it rebooted a couple of times but eventually finished.

30 minutes for my windows 7 fusion vm to upgrade to windows 10, have not had too much of a look at it yet, looks quite different from the early beta release I've played with.

Help! Right Im doing a custom install booting from USB, everything was going fine until it had to auto restart which is normal but when it boots up it just boots the installer from the beginning...

Try removing the USB before the first reboot.

tried that but wouldn't boot I played with the UEFI boot order and got it working, now its all going fine BUT I think I may have the OS installed twice on the same volume so I need to delete one.. This is now beyond my field of expertise.

Run Disk Cleanup, then cleanup system files, that should find the older OS, delete it from there.

It simply means you have devices with no drivers.
