My daughter's Japanese sister (remember, she was an exchange student for 11 months) sent an e-mail to my daughter's yahoo webmail account. There were some Japanese characters included that couldn't be read. I went to Tools -> Internet Options -> General tab -> Languages button and added Japanese. I closed IE and reopened it but the characters had not been rendered in Japanese.

I checked in Control Panel under Regional and Language options and the computer is enabled for Asian language. We are running Windows XP SP2. It is completely updated. What am I missing?

Sorry Trip, apparently yahoo does not support Japanese or Chinese characters. For info try here.

Have you tried forwarding it to your outlook and see if it can be read then?

I'll suggest she do that and see if it works.
