    Hi all!
I am about to take the 272 but started revising for the 270 as this is the next step for the mcse, is the unit bigger than the 272 + 271? Also is it much harder as middle of Jan is my deadline!
    Any comments appreciated!

    Regards,
    Dave

.If you passed the 270 exam and if you have experience you should have no issues in passing MCDST 271 and 272 exams.
from tips on ur 70-271 preparation on google ,i get to know that 270 exam is more technical ,70-271 ,70-272 are both very logical exams.
    hope it useful for u

I'm sure someone will be along soon who has done both.
From recollection though, 271 and 272 deal with XP in isolation and then only with 'user' related issues.

270 is more technical and includes installation and configuration issues. It also considers XP to be part of a domain so you get quesions about firewalls, offline files, gateways etc.

If you've done 270, you should be able to do 271 and 2.
Likewise, if you've worked hard at 271 and 2, you haven't got far to go for 270.

    Basically what Jonny said.

the difference is the 271 and 272 are focused around the ins and outs of XP and office 2003. I would say its from an advanced users or support technicians point of view.

the 270 is the ins & out of XP in more detail , XP as a Domain client, GPO basics, Domain based accounts basics and XP deployment especially via RIS. Its more from an experienced support technicians or administrators point of view.

I would recommend doing the 271 and 272 before the 270.
When doing the 270 i would also recommend reading the 290 material.
