      Talk21 did the same to me, I'd had the account and used it as my main account for about 5 or 6 years, now I have to pay them if I want to retrieve my mail via outlook, it just stinks if you ask me.

      There's certainly a download available to let you use pop and smtp with Gmail(damned if I can remember the link offhand), bit I dont know if Google have any plans for it themselves.
