i've never messed with wireless before. I'm not worried about hooking it up to the desktop. I'm assuming it will basicly be the same as my wired linksys. What i'm wandering about is how I will connect her laptop to it. Any one out there have any links to give me a basic idea of what to expect when I get there. And both desktop and laptop have vista home basic on it if this will make any different.

As I said on TU - just use the wizard. It will give you a list of SSIDs to choose from, so just select the correct one and put in the password when prompted. (If you *aren't* prompted for a password frighten them with horror stories and put the encryption on! :biggrin )

It wouldn't take to much to frighten her. She is very computer illiterate. I told her not to yell at tech support anymore, since it was not their fault she did not know what the hell she was doing. She was trying to install nortons that came with the new puter. It kept asking for the product code to be enter. Since she didn't know what that was she calls her help desk. She had them so confuse that she ended up hanging up on them and calling me. She was trying to enter the MS window code that was on the side of your computer instead of what was on the norton disk. :blink All I can say is thank god she is joes sister and not mine. :biggrin

The only difference is that it will take you ten minutes longer in Vista to find the wizard - why the heck Microsoft move things around i will never know but it is always the same when a new OS is released.

Also, don't forget the help system built into windows, once in a blue moon it can actually help :biggrin
