    Hi all,

I'm looking at building a test lab at home (Hyper-V). I'd like to store the VMs in a centralised location for failover/clustering.

I've been looking at QNAP/Netgear devices and I was wondering if anyone had any specific recommendations? I've also looked at building a FreeNAS box, which might be an option.

Ultimately I'm looking for something that supports 4x Hard Drives, iSCSI, and (ideally) RAID10.

Anyone have something similar at home?

    Thanks,

    Gav

I use an ML115 as an iSCSI target running HP StoreVirtual VSA.

I wrote a little blog series on it, take a look, it might even help a little.

Self build is the way to go, cheaper than a lot of the Prosumer devices with comparible performance.

Building an Iomega PX6 Replacement – Part One « Everything Virtual has some initial information as does the second in the series here , although I never finished the articles because I didn't ever get the SATA 3 disks I wanted (but to be fair the SATA2's have been working just fine).

Thanks both, I'll take a look at those links. The HP MicroServer has another 'DFS-esque' discount at the moment, so that might be an interesting base for a NAS box. I have a PERC5i controller kicking about somewhere, so I could use that to drive the disks if the onboard controller isn't up to scratch.
