Im contemplating taking a crash course in a relevent topic to help me on my way in the I.T world.as teaching my self wouldnt really pay.

The usual entry level way into IT is compTIA A+, compTIA N+ and Microsofts MCDST and no further as having high end certs can have a damaging effect on your employment prospects.

Also crash courses can be crap, too expensive and with no IT experience you may in be over your head and end up with nothing more than a wasted payment to the place you are training with.

You could look at your local college if your not happy with going the self study route but as IT is a constant learning experience you'll learn to self learn anyway, so why not try it. It's cheaper, you can get free advice on here and you can get yourself the best study materials that a training company might not give you.

If it's Firebrand you're thinking of, then I would recommend them. If you have the money, that is. They really do crash through the course material, but the instructor I had on my A+/N+ course was more than happy to spend a few hours a night going over material and running labs with struggling students. They really do seem to get the best guys for the job.

Still, might be worth having a go yourself first, and see how you find it. You might not need that sort of instruction. Also, might be worth noting that Firebrand courses start at around £1000. And end at about £7000. That's not including VAT either. It's a really expensive option.
