Hi everyone, since I've decided to lurk around these forums for a while, I thought it only fair that I announce myself.

I'm currently working as an assistant IT admin (same work as the full admin for half the pay) in Rugby, UK. Most of you probably know the drill - recovering from server failures (thankfully rare), cleaning mouseballs, rescuing kittens from burning buildings and everything in between.

Basically, after a lot of umming and ahhing, I've decided that some extra learning/qualifications are in order, and I'm looking at either an MCSE or a networking qualification, but I'm still undecided on which and with whom. A friend recommended this forum to help with the decision, so here I am. Hopefully I won't be too annoying with my various questions.

Please note that you must be *this* high to taunt the newbie.

Greetings, Dances. Welcome. Glad you found the place. Sounds like you are kind of split in terms of an educational direction. The two aren't mutually exclusive (MCSE vs Networking) but I think I understand. The MCSE can take years to complete. On the other hand, you can become a CCNA with just one test and still pursue an MCSE. Sounds like you are in the right place, tho. Experience more than certification is really the key to a continued IT career.

Let us know how we can help. Cheers.
