Let me introduce myself,had been working for a product developement company for 11 years when I decided I wanted out.IT/NETWORKS was chosen to be my next career so I started on a basic installation/maintenance course last year before moving onto the A+ which I have just passed.Unfortunately I was told at the beginning of December I would be losing my job at the end of January.So here I am ,unemployed and trying to find my first IT JOB .I have just started the N+ at Stockton Riverside college and I am also studying mcp 70-270 at home .Relevant jobs seem few and far between in my area , I've applied for four over the last 3 weeks and no replies of yet.Looking forward to communicating with you all.

Hello, that's a bummer being made redundant just before Xmas any time of the year is not good, but XMAS is worse.

Just seen this thread so I thought I would reply.

With regards to Job hunting which IT jobs sites have you tried?

Redundancies had been quite common over the past couple of years thats why I went back to college last year, I needed a career change.
Sites I've been using are Reed,workthing,cw jobs,monarch,jobsite,hays,sector 1,uk jobs network,total jobs,1 jo and planet recruit.

 

Wow sounds like you know your stuff, I was going to suggest some but you've already got it on your list.

What about doing some Voluntary Work at a local business or NHS?

 

I'm looking into volunteer work at the minute as entry level jobs in my area are few and far between as I've only applied for 4 in the last 3 weeks and had no replies.After reading about cv's on this site I think I know why(I only added my last job onto my previuos cv which is over 15 years old), so I spent all day today updating my cv and the sites with which I'm registered.I've added more to my list If anyones on the lookut for a job just get in contact (registered with e-cvs.net, cost me £14 but they've matched me up with 442 different recruitment consultants and they'll all get my cv).Anyway thanks for your post this place is really keeping me going at the moment.
