What exactly is an 'IT Recruitment Company'?

 

Typically it's an outfit that brokers tech jobs then hires techs to match the requirement. They take a cut of what the company pays...sometimes a really big cut. I've worked with good recruiters and bad ones.

The good ones did their best to work with the needs of both the hiring companies and the techs. The bad ones see techs just as commodities. The second they don't think they can use you anymore, they stop responding to your calls and pretend you are dead.

Fortunately, I've only worked with one or two recruiters who were that bad. Most of the folks were pretty good and two were outstanding at working with me and getting me jobs. Bottom line is be careful who you work with.
