I`m fresh green in here, but I found some really useful tips this afternoon on the CF so I`ll stick with you

If there`s some thread with tips how to start new career in IT please help me find it, ATM I`m totally confused what to do, I just started with CCNA have a good progress but now I know that without IT background I don`t stand a chance to get a job... Where should I start? I`m not completely new, working with PC, on PC, in PC for last 17 years so theres no probs with hardware nor some basic programming, but till now it was only hobby and I wanna make last step and start career in this area...

Cheers, and pls have patience with me if I`ll have stupid questions.

I worked with computers for 18 years before getting my first "official" IT job, starting out as a field service tech... going out to client sites and fixing their PC (and rarely, server) problems.

Start out with the A+, which should be easy for you, but don't underestimate it. Don't wait until you've got the A+ to start looking... start looking for an entry-level job NOW.

After the A+, continue with the Network+ and MCDST. That's about as far as you should certify without real-world IT experience. :)

Best of luck to you, and welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the forums! I'd agree with Michael that you should start out with the A+, even with your experience. That will help "legitimize" your knowledge and experience to future employers.
