    Hi all,

I've been using your site for a few months but finally thought I should join up and join in the discussions. :D

I currently work in sales but hoping to get started in IT. Im half way through doing the MCDST cert. My question is which cert shall I aim for after that? I was thinking of either A+ or Network+ but not sure. Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks all!

Welcome to the forums and we are glad to have you here.

I am pretty sure that a lot of us here would recommend first doing the A+ as it is the basics that you should know before proceeding any further. Network+ is another great cert to have as it is the basics for networking which is also good to know.

    Hi,

can't advise you very well myself but I'm sure plenty members here can.

Still working to get into the IT career myself, but your training should follow what you ultimately want to do in the IT field.

Both the A+ and N+ are considered "entry-level" and the skill sets involved in each qual are basic to most areas of IT. Building a career on a firm foundation is always a good idea. That would be where to go next in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice people. Going to order an A+ book later and it will be my next area to concentrate on once I get 70-272 out of the way.

    Hi and welcome to CF!

I was in your position when I first joined these forums; was in sales, wanted to get in to IT. I did A+, and mithered the hell out of the IT department at work to help them out/shadow what they did.

I've been working in First Line support for 6 months now (also have my N+, now working on CCNA) and I'm absolutely loving it!

Hope you find what you need on the forums! We're here to help and haze as necessary :p
