good site thought i had better sign up. LIke so many it seems been messing about building fixing upgrading etc for a while now need a new career being made redundant from my present one after 20 yrs service.
had skilltrain round no pressure from them not that i would let them looked at A+,N+,CCNA,CCNP route.
All seemed very good used forum to research them not completely put off but looking into atleast doing A+,N+ on my own i am used to self study and exams from my current role.
any advice opinions on books for study would be appreciated anyways hi to all

Welcome to CF. Sorry to hear about your job, hopefully this will be the start of a new venture for you.

There is no reason why you shouldn't start the ball rolling with the A+ as you say.

Hi r6yammy, glad you stumbled across us.

The Mike Myers book for the A+ is the best I believe.

It seems to me to be quite a change of career, aircraft engineer to IT. Are you fed up with what you were doing or are there no other jobs in that sector to apply for?

there are other jobs for me in my current career but all req rellocation something we are not prepared to do to our family with commitments to both children at school and grandparents who would not let us move without them moving with us.
contracting for me is the other option but i would not see much of the kids i probably will end up contracting till i have fully sorted new career but not long term too many people i know have split through that life style.
so a new career beckons i hope who knows what the future holds.
thanks for the info on the A+ book

Greetings, r6yammy. Welcome to CertForums. If you haven't done so already, pop down to our A+ forum. There's a "resources" thread pinned to the top of the forum that gives a link to the Meyers book and provides other study resources as well. Give us a hollar if you need a hand. :)
