Hi all

I currently work as a Junior Desktop Technician at East Sussex County Council.

I hate the "Junior" tag as it makes it sound like I'm 16 (I'm 42!) but come this October, (and promotion), I'll be plain Desktop Tech.

I have an RAF background (14 years Air Traffic Control - I left in 2001), and have worked help desk at BT.com (2001-2002) and Deutsche Bank (2002-2003).

I had a break from IT for a few years before starting here at ESCC in 2008 on Service Desk, then transferred a year ago to the Desktop Team, covering the entire county.


Luckily, they pay for training and qualifications here, and this year I have so far taken (and passed): -

70-271 MCDST part 1 - Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a Windows XP Operating System;

70-272 MCDST part 2 - Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a Windows XP Operating System;

and

70-680 MCTS - Configuring Windows 7

...and I am currently studying for

70-685 MCITP - Windows 7 Enterprise Desktop Support Technician

and am booked on the following 5 day course in November

M6451 Planning Deploying & Managing MS SCCM 2007
