    Hello

I've (just) started down the self study path towards an A+ certification and have found this forum to be very useful (been lurking for a couple of days) and there seems to be such a great community spirit here.

I'm currently a legal secretary in Newcastle (hello to the other geordies out there) although I'm hoping to work in Desktop Support eventually (no, not just as a stepping stone to anything greater but because I actually love troubleshooting end user problems).

I have worked before in IT Support for about 2 years but my time was divided about 70/30 between IT and secretarial duties in a small firm (about 50 people). The IT dept consisted solely of a long-suffering sys admin who had been on numerous occasions refused the money to hire an assistant - enter me applying on spec for anything going and when they realised I was good with computers they took me on largely to help with the IT... something I will be forever grateful for :)

That was a couple of years ago now and although I loved it at the time, it just didn't occur to me to seriously consider it as a career to pursue. It's only been this last six months or so, when I've been involved in a few IT projects at work, that I've realised how happy I am when I'm doing that and that it's hit me with a startling clarity that this is something I truly want job-wise and not just as a hobby, although I'm well aware it won't be easy.

Computers have always been my passion; something I can thank my dad for. He used to be a programmer when I was growing up (in the days of the BBC Micro) and I would sit for hours on end as a five year old watching him work and learning bits myself.

Well, that's me. I'm 22 and in true girlie style I'm completely chatty and seem to get easily carried away typing messages of essay proportions without even realising (now for instance? lol) I love reading so if I'm not glued to a computer, I've usually got my head in a book. Other interests include going to the theatre and socialising.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
