I moved from Support to Systems Engineer 3 years ago, can't IMAGINE I ever Supported Users every day!

I love what I do, have great pride in my work and love the challenge of always learning, but, while I love working in IT, I do try to have a healthy balance between work and play. Got married last year, so still in the happily married bliss phase(with the odd What the Hell just happened moment!)

I have a Bachelors of Commerce with specialisation in IT Systems Design, supplemented with a 2000 MCSE, 2003 MCSA, and a 2010 CCNA. This year I’ll be taking on Firewalls and VPN’s, to complete the Big Picture for me. Looking forward to putting another feather in my cap…

Other than IT, I love sports, any and all, but especially Rugby and Cricket, Fantasy Football, Golf, F1(Forza Ferrari!) and most ball sports! And love to see the world, travelling all over!

So that’s me, in a nutshell, I hope to help, and be helped around here…

Oh, and forgot to mention, mostly Microsoft experience(keeping with my Certs), Server 2003/2008, Exchange, VMware, Citrix, HP switches, BES, Polycom VC's, XP\Windows 7(luckily we skipped Vista!)...

In truth, you STILL support users every day. Even if you don't interface directly with them, your primary task is still "support of the end user", whether you're building a server, pushing app installs, or securing a network. After all, those end users are the reason we're employed! ;)

I absolutely agree with you, it's just SO much better not having to explain something for the 100th time, or trying to figure out a Help Desk Call that just doesn't make any sense("everything is broken" is my Fav!)... Luckily, being 2nd/3rd line, what the Support guys can't fix, I fix in the background, less glory, but less hassle too!

So supporting them indirectly is the way I like it...
