Hi, I am thinking about taking the mcdst exam and wanted to find a
non comercial source of information to get advice about where to take the exams etc. And I found you guys and gals! :D

Up till now all I have found are commercial sites that just want to take my money to "train" me, one of them wanted THOUSANDS!!
    can you believe that? :x

So here I am. I have lots of Questions but I'll read through the existing threads first and search the site a bit. I expect most of the answers are there.

    Thanks for your time, bfn.

    Hiya,

Just joined today too - how's it going?

I passed the 70-271 a couple of weeks back and am studying for the 70-272.

I went on a 3 day course with interquad (courtesy of my work) for the 70-271...and guess what?!? NOTHING from the course - not even similar came up in the exam! (Yes it was the correct course). I passed because I did loads of practice tests from ******* and got the Microsoft press book for the exam second hand via Amazon.

Going to just do ******* and book for the 70-272...******** questions are VERY realistic!!

Hopefully see you in the MCDST forum!

EDIT: Removed reference to braindump site - zimbo

Leehaa, I'd advise you to carefully read the terms and conditions of the forum. Also pay particular attention to the part about braindumps.

Basically the tests and practice questions are from a company that produces braindumps. These are made by people coming out of the exam and writing down the questions. Usually they are quite realistic as they are the test questions and using them is simply cheating.

Thanks everyone, I'm just an amateur hardware monkey and overclocker and love computers. I'd like to have the option to jack my job on noisy, dirty, smelly, building sites where the h&s policy consists of boots, hats and hiviz vests, and work with IT.
I have no qualifications in IT but after browsing your site for a while it looks like i'll be saving loads of dosh and self studying for the A+ first. That should give me enough experience to be able to make an informed decision about further studies.

    Doh! Sorry!

Well what I say about the MIcrosoft press book still stands. Also, there are some "evaluation" type things on the Microsoft site itself!

Nothing beats "hands on" though - have a play with XP - especially make sure you know your way around it!..

Anyways....just dug that hole so er, gonna crawl in and tuck me self into the soil.....
