Hello, I am the newbie here.......

    I have joined the CF site, as I can see that there is a real mixture of people here, both qualified and looking to get qualified in IT (like myself).

    Any advice is really helpful to me.

    I am 39, and currently working in electronics. For various reasons, I have decided to leave my job, and have been harbouring thoughts of changing careers for a while.

    Based on this, I've decided now is the window of opportunity for me to have a go at getting into IT.

    I am planning on doing the fast track Comp TIA A+ in a couple of weeks time. Straight after that I will begin looking for jobs, and see if I can use some of my transferable skills to get a foot in the door. I think it's going to be tough, but I do live between Reading, Guildford and Basingstoke, so there should be plenty of opportunity.

    My background in IT is limited, e.g. building, installing, upgrading, fixing home PC's. I did a support job, but that was about 16 years ago, and was therefore before Windows as most people know it (don't laugh too much).
