    Hi all cert people,

Just had a visit from a training provider man today! It was from IT Skills Wales and felt pressurised into starting course/ obtaining a CDL/ paying up quickly. As others have said on this site about various providers- the pitch is mostly aimed at the 'evidence' of earnings to come and supposed prospects rather than the course content. He made a particular point of telling me that I must phone CDL today and provided their tel no, and gave tips on how to answer their questions and the info to give.

When I later phoned CDL- when it got to the part of stating who the provider was- the answer "IT Skills" provoked the reply that "this provider has been suspended from the learning council". I guess this opening post is a warning to others?? Maybe this is a genuine error or something, but I now would not trust them with my money.

More positively, having read around the forums here, I feel inspired to look at the 'self-study' route, and save money. After all I have a post-grad qualification (non-IT), and am keen to further my interest and experience in computers and IT with the aim of securing eventual employment ( perhaps before I reach 50!!).

Yes Zimbo I feel drawn to that route given the money people seem to be making for the provision of distance learning. I shall also try to 'sell' myself a bit in order to gain the necessary practical 'hands on' stuff!
