Thank you to everyone on the boards for all the information and advice you provide here!

I'm 27 and currently in a job which bores me but which I stick with due to the reasonable salary which lets me enjoy my free time out of work. Like most people I've always wanted to earn a living doing a job I love or am interested in but was never sure how to go about making the change.

I considered the Computeach route a while back but didn't go any further than sending for the information pack as I found a messageboard where alot of people were voicing some serious unhappiness with the quality and value of their service. It was actually whilst looking for that messageboard again recently that I found this board by chance. Having spent a good few hours reading much of the posts I have now ordered myself some shiny new Meyers A+ and N+ books to get me strutting down the IT career path. These certs are a only a small step but steps nonetheless!

Before I read the information here I would never have considered doing this as I just assumed the studying and exams had to be arranged through colleges and places like Computeach.

Thanks for the wake-up call! :clap

Good luck to you indeed !

I was in the same situation as you approx four years ago, It can be very daunting to jump out of one career in to another but IT is ever changing so your mind is constantly kept occupied.

I spent five years of my life placing insurance cover for supermarkets for god's sake !!, it was extremely dull and not at all rewarding.

I'm now in IT and loving every minute of it !, don't get me wrong, there's a lot of hard work and study required but it's a great atmosphere where I am (generally is in IT depts) and we have some great challenges.

I'm sure you will be fine, you sound determined enough !

Good luck with your studies and welcome to the community.

    Best Wishes

    Steve
