    Hi everyone,
I'm very new to the IT game and am one of these people that would like to change career and give IT a go!

I am looking at doing the MCDST as I have a background in customer service and alot of experience as a user of Microsoft products.

Is MCDST a good starting point? The forums seem to suggest the A+ is the best start???

    Cheers
    Matt

Hello Matt and Welcome to CF:biggrin

A+ offers a solid foundation in Hardware & software skills for PC support!

It would be a unwise move to skip this!

But it's your choice, the other thing to remember with A+ is you only have to take it once! reconised worldwide as the industry standard for PC technicians! While Microsoft Certificates always need to be updated! Soon the new Vista Office will be out and if you have MCDST using office XP products you will have to re-take this to stay up to date!

    Hi and welcome!

It rather depends on what you expect to be doing. A+ is not M$ specific and covers a lot of areas useful to know which M$ wouldn't bother with. This is why the A+ is felt to be a good start.

    Hi Matt,

I'm heading down that route A+, Network+ then onto MSDST - in a way seems somewhat natural progression for me.

welcome by the way - at least I'm not the only newbie here :)
