    my local disk (c) is full and i want to install new software, what will i do

    Basically You will need to uninstall stuff you dont use or backup data to a USB drive or writeable CD/DVD

    You could also attach another drive as well

    You may be able to compress files as well.

    Is the C partition the only one you have? i.e the whole drive or do you have another partition? If so you could always use some third party software to increase the size of the C partition.

    can't you do this using the windows disk management utility?
     
    Certifications: A+ 220-701 and 220-702
    WIP: none at current but poss 70-680 soon

    You can extend the system partition in Win7 using disk management or diskpart from the command prompt, I don't think the options there for XP though.

    You could purchase another HD (a larger one) and then image your old HD on to your new one.
