Hello Im New to here so sorry if this is posted in the wrong section. I have Windows Server 2003 Standard edition on my server at home and I cant get the Group Policy to work correctly. One thing i would like to change is how windows puts a colour box around the text on the icons. Thanks Wade:rolleyes:

    hello

are the other computers joined to the domain?

In the default domain policy try
    User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Desktop>Active Desktop
and change the setting for "Enable Active Desktop Properties"

Sorry Wade, we need more info to help diagnose group policy issues.

For example, what OS are you clients running? How are they connected to the LAN, wired or wireless? Are they logging in to the domain quickly? What are the results of GPRESULT? etc.

How is your internal DNS set up?

The setting you are after is in system properties *advanced tab* > *Perfomance*

a check box that says something like "use drop shaddows for icon labels on desktop".

Good point Sparky. The GPO that is being applied is the default domain policy. It is overiding any local settings you have on the clients. This is normal.

You need to set the group policy to apply to the computer.

For simplicity sake, as Group Policy isnt a simple subject, try changing a setting in the default domain policy and you will need to wait for the policy to be applied or run GPUPDATE from the run box or command prompt.
