Hi all Im currently studying for my A+ exams (using Mike Meyers all in one book)..
Basicly Ive worked in a factory for around 10 years but always been interested in computers, Ive always built my own computers and recently built a small network (2 computers)..I decided to bite the bulet and change my job, hopefully :).

After my A+ Im hoping to do N+ but not sure where to go from there
Im not to interested in programming but like the idea of some thing in computer hardware..

I was also wondering is 31 too old to start down this career path or dose age not really matter.

Hi Dominoe and welcome to Certforums. Good luck with the career change, I'd say it is realistic to try at 31, after all there are people on this board who are older and have done the same. Though one of the biggest stumbling blocks can be Salary expectations, the older you get the more commitments you have and so the higher the expectation can be. Certs without industry experience are not going to guarantee a high paying job.

Welcome DominoeI'm in the same boat, admittedly 6 years younger, but a complete change of direction.

Used to be a golf pro, like you always had an interest in comps, built my own etc.

I'm using the Mike Meyers book to do A+, then Net+, hopefully then in between getting a job for practical real world experience, I'm going go for MCSE in security.

That's a long way down the road though.

    Any way welcome:beers2

Welcome to the gang mate :)
Must agree with the other guys, I wouldnt worry too much about it, sometimes age can be an advantage not a disadvantage, (atleast it seems that way from where im sitting, lol)
