A graphic card that's 1gb should pretty much run any game but maybe not on high settings.

You haven't listed the rest of your components, other things that will affect game play would include:

    1. CPU
    2. Ram
    3. HDD (speed)

Ah, which series of nvidia graphics card do you plan to install? and which games do you wish to play?

You should also list your cpu, RAM, and hdd speed like wagnerk said ^^

    That's a good question, 'cause a 320mb 8800gts will outperform a 1gb 9500GS when it comes to gaming.

Just check out Tom's Hardware Guide :)

    Yup ^^

I'm quite surprised no one else asked which series he planned to install, I thought that would be the first thing that came to mind :biggrin Well it was to me XD

As long as the new graphic's card is equal or better than the Geforce 7900 GTX, you will be ok to play that game. However if you want to ensure that your card can play most other games (after all, no card will future proof you due to advancements in gaming) then look at Geforce 9600GT (you can get these under £60) or higher (the GTX275's look very nice) or the ATi equivalents.

What is the actual make of the motherboard, just listing the chipset won't give an idea of the type of graphics card it can accept.

I thought you were a Systems Admin? Anyway, it may tell you during POST or in the BIOS or just check the motherboard...
