Personally.... I'd just tie a case fan to it and get the job done like that.

Replacement 6600 fans are notoriously difficult to find and the often suggested third party arctic cooler replacement model may not fit - check this if you decide to purchase one.

This Zalman should sort you out - http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=174&pgno=0.

You can get aftermarket GPU fans in most places. The Zalman one is a good one, it should fit as it just clips on.

Eeeesh. Bad idea. You really don't want to just rig any old fan to a video card. I'd recommend getting an aftermarket fan that is designed for the video card. Arctic Cooling makes fans for just about every video card out there.

I was only joking! :p Sheesh. No one gets my humour...

My point was that the fan arctic cooling make for the 6600 is known to not fit 6600 cards created by MSI very easily. (something to do with the holes on the card to attach the fan too iirc)

My sole recommendation goes to the Zalman.

yeah the Zalman one seems to be universal and is actually better than the stock fan, Akasa also make them but I am not sure if they are any good.

The Zalman one I have seen in PC world fits the 6600 upto 8800 it's all to do with the position of the clips.

If you say it, you can bet that someone'll end up doing it. :p

If that's the case, then you'll know better than to get MSI next time, right? 8)

Ermm it's me with the MSI card.

It's being quiet at the moment, but if it carries on I'll look again at the fan thing. Might take the opportunity to get a new card and some more RAM. :D

I didn't mean "you" as in "Qs"... I meant "you" as in the general "you"... or, "one", to be proper. :)

So let me get this straight. you weren't talking to me or Qs, but someone called General You who is the "one" and is proper. OK so how does that help me with getting a new fan. Does this General You supply proper ones ?????

You, specifically, can get an Arctic Cooling or Zalman fan. :D Though Qs seems to think the Arctic Cooling one won't fit. I have no idea.

You're all crazy - If you need a replacement fan then get the Zalman VF700, the 900 may work too (as stated by GBL.) :p

As others have said, go with the zalman, it'll fit, it'll work and you should see a drop in temp compared to the stock fan.

Or just replace the gfx card, cos the vanilla 6600 wasn't all that to start with :P
