Congrats Trip, Its always good news when someone you know gets a decent job!

Now don't stop work on those books either, just cause you have to do regular work, there's no need to let the hobby job slacken!! ;)

Except for relatviely brief interruptions, I've always had a "day job". Almost no one can make a career out of writing books. If you look at the author's bio on any of the tech/cert books you have, it will almost always describe the author has currently working in the IT industry. No, I won't stop writing books just because I've landed this job (though I'd like to take a break after this book is over and have my evenings and Sundays free).

 

Uh...I *don't* start Monday. I got a call from the contractor that said the company in question had underestimated the amount of time it would take to get official approval. I guess because Sybase is such a big company, there are a lot of approval levels in their workflow and they won't all be gone through by next Monday. I'm assured it's still a "done deal" and just a matter of a few more days to a week to get all of the approvals in line. :sigh:

 

I guess its kind of nice to have a little vacation before going back to work. Plus its like you said the worries are over regarding the not having a job. So now that you do, you can relax Trip.
