Had an interview with the NHS this morning and this afternoon told I have the job and start tomorrow 0900. Its a Rollout Engineer/Desktop Support 1st line Support with some 2nd Line Support supporting about 2500 users :ohmy interview was straight forward, interviewer was more interested in my troubleshooting methodoligy did not even talk about my CV, also he said he was impressed with my honesty about an illness i have. The interview lasted all of about 13 mins took me longer to find the place ;) ... Money not great but the experince and having NHS on the CV will make up for that.

Thanks for all the congrats... 1st day on the job spent ghosting images to new desktops, then moving some printers from one office to another with one of the guys he has been there 3 years and one of the trainers and said it has a static ip and was not sure if the ip address would change when we moved it he was about to call the Helpdesk to find out :eek:... Told him if it's got a static ip it won't change, if you have desktop with a static ip it won't change if you move it ... Need more problems like that will make me look very knowledgeable :biggrin

A printer with a dynamic IP isn't going to be very useful anyway. Except for generating helpdesk calls.
A part of me hopes I have colleagues like that in my new job, just so I look good. Another part of me fervently hopes I don't.

Congrats (prepare to realise the NHS is overloaded with rediculous layers of unnecessary management and start to get angry your tax money is not spent on front line staff)

That's an entirely separate question. Its IP address won't change if it's static. Whether it will still be accessible is another matter.

Yep, a different office could well be on a different subnet, which would cause connectivity problems.

What he should have said is this.. Hmm look guys, we are moving a printer, which like all printers has been configured with a static IP address. We should check to see if the new office is on the same subnet. If it isn't, we need to read the manual of this printer and configure it with a relevant IP address and subnet mask for the new location.

    Congrats on the job mate!
