Good luck for the interview mate (I'm sure you won't need any luck!).

If you get stuck on any questions, ask the interviewer if they are related to Scaramanga

Very very late reply (which I apologise for - I've been on holiday for the past week :p)

Interview went well for the first half and not so well for the second. I found myself repeating a lot of information, which was probably down to nerves. *shrugs*

Had a voicemail from the recruitment agency a few days later who were really vauge and wanted me to call them back to "see where we go from here".

Obviously assuming I'd cocked the interview up I rung them and was happy to find out that they were so impressed that I'd skipped second interview stage and have a final interview this coming Friday.

It's all down to me vs one other candidate now.

    Heh. :p

From the sounds of it it's going to be a ball-ache...

I get there at 10AM, do numeracy and literacy tests. Then it's on to 'personality profiling' and break for lunch. After that it's on to psychometric testing and then a final interview. I should finish around 4PM.

    ...joy

I'll keep you guys updated. :)

    Right, update time.

Had my day of fun last Friday, which was interesting to say the least.

It all started off with a verbal reasoning exam, which was entirely new to me. It comprises of reading through a block of text and then answering statements based on whether they were mentioned in said text. All of the tests were extremely time-pressured.

For some reason (probably nerves) I couldn't seem to grasp the concept (even though I have an A-Level in English Language *sigh*)

After that there was a 25 minute maths exam, no calculators. Mostly statistical stuff. For some bizarre reason the other candidate was scribbling on his rough paper like a mad man. *shrugs* I knocked through it pretty easily.

After that there was a 200 question 'personality profiling' exam. Questions ranged from "Do you frequently get headaches?" to "Which do you prefer; a beatiful sunset or an elegant sports-car?"

Broke for lunch. Came back and got my results from the exams from their HR Manager.

She proceeded to tell me the pool for the exams was from post-graduates and managers, and so it was intentionally difficult. (joy)

Turned out I got 'average' on the verbal reasoning, and 'well above average' on the maths, which wasn't too shabby.

From the personality profiling exam it showed that I was off the scale extrovert. Hah. Apparently my answers were slightly biased, as a lot of applicants answer all of the questions to portray themselves in the best light. I didn't feel as though I did that but hey-ho. It also showed that I was really good in pretty much every other area, which the HR manager didn't believe. I proceeded to explain to her about my self-study, the HND and all my Microsoft certs and I think she got the picture.

After that there was an hour or so final interview, which went pretty well. Came out thinking it was far better than my original interview.

If I get the job then they will make sure that on completion of my MCSA and MCSE that I'll be getting a pay-rise (which will be in the offer letter apparently). Woo. They have also said that the role is purposefully being moulded for progression to IT Technical Infrastructure Manager in 2/3 years time. No pressure then...

I find out later on today, which is good, so fingers crossed. I'll let you all know.
