    As the title says.

The job is for IT Field systems/Support Engineer that I asked advice on previous post http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=19212

Not sure how it'll go and what questions they'll ask but I want to say thanks to everyone who replied to my previous post saying I should go for it.

Should I do a little studying before I go so I can try to be more ready for any Networking questions etc.

I just hope it goes well

Hard to cram for something where they could ask you ANYTHING. Personally, it's my belief that if you're well-suited for the job, you'll be able to answer those questions without having to cram for them ahead of time. In other words, if the job is meant to be yours, you'll get it... and if you don't, then it probably wasn't the best job for you at the time. :)

    Best of luck, GBL!!!

I never worried about answering tech questions (unless I was going for a specific role) as if I didn't know the answer its pretty pointless and obvious you'll be blagging!

Non-tech answers like, give me an example of working in a team, when you solved a problem, when you had to do conflict resolution..... etc. where do you want the job to go. A good one is what is your salary expectation......... always good to find what the "market rate is" and be vague with your answer.

Way to keep on digging GBL. If an old, crippled up guy like me can finally find may into IT, you can too. My experience ought to be the light shining at the end of the tunnel, that's not just another train coming, for all you guys. :)

Seriously, with all the red flags that employers look at that applied to me, and I still finally made it, it means that if you young bucks will study and learn fundamentals you'll find your job in a lot less time than I did. It won't be easy, but you won't job hunt for two years either.

Like BM says, it's difficult to know what to learn. Just be yourself and be honest. Make sure you come across as being Keen and motivated and a team player.

Don't forget to tell them what certs you have and the fact that you have been doing it in your own free time. This shows commitment!

It might be an idea to do a little research on the company, should they ask that immortal question why do you want to work for us!

Questions I have been asked were:-

What are your strengths and weakness? Make sure you keep it positive such as my weakness is I conscientious about doing a good job and this sometimes slows me down!

It maybe they won't ask you those questions, but in all the different interviews I have been to. It always came up!

    Good Luck GBL:biggrin 8)

Try to relax in the interview and if you don't know the answer to a question say you be more than keen to research on that area. This would prove to the potential employer that you show initiative and enthusiasm. Lastly, just be yourself and smile when as and when appropriate. Best wishes.

Don't forget to tell them that you have a very stong IT support network of friends which you willa also bring to the role (certforums). After my last interview (job where I have been for past 15 months) I asked the interviewer (director of the company) what swung the interview, and he said it was my willingness to accept I don't know everything, and my determination to plug any and all gaps which emerge in my knowledge. He also said that he loved the fact that I openly admitted using friends in forums for advice, and said that it was a support network he would love to adopt.

There you have it, maybe somewhat illegible that spiel, but hey, I'm beat.

Good luck in your interview mate

Just spent £150 today on a new suit, shirt and shoes in the sale in Debenhams since my only other suit don't fit no more, I seem to have got two sizes bigger since I last wore it.

So I hope I get the job.
