Hey

Not a big poster here (hopefully will change now).

I finally secured my first IT position. It took me 8 months and literally several hundreds of applications.
During those 8 months I was volunteering as an IT Technician role in local non-profit organizations. I also managed to get few roll-out contracts (lasting from 1 day to 3 weeks each), where I had the opportunity to watch more experienced professionals work and ... learn.

Despite the amount of applications sent I've never secured an interview. This was my first. This was more of informal chat about organization IT systems, me and the company. Today I recieved a phone call and I was invited for another informal meeting in local branch of the organization and I was offered an IT support position.

I am extremely excited as the wage is a lot more than I was expecting and also there is plenty of space for me to learn and progress as the company runs 3 servers in 3 branches which are managed by external contractors. I am seen by the employer as the person who will take ownership of those systems in the future.

I thought I'd share good news along other jobseekers. There are jobs out there so don't give up.
