Google Drive been taken down?

wow, so I went to install Google Drive from the app store on my Mac and saw it wasn't there, thought this was odd so went to the site google drive site to start the download, but nothing happens. After a google search I found that Google drive has basically been retired and after Mark 2018 it will fully be taken down (I guess they are giving people time to migrate their data). This is madness, Google Drive was so darn reliable! I really didn't want to use OneDrive as I have had so many bad experiences with it..

I think you've read this wrong, only the app is being retired as its being replaced with a new app https://www.google.com/drive/download/

 

That link took me nowhere where was it meant to take me?
