Hi Guys,

It's going OK, but this place is a major mess. There is a lot of broken stuff, and the AD domain is a nightmare. The guy who set it up didn't know squat. I'll be repairing things for quite a while. Some of it is stuff I've never touched, and that the developers who were here couldn't fix either and at least one of them had a lot of experience with apache so I've got my hands full.

The development web server has been broken since September of last year....

 

Well it sounds to me like you won't be sitting around doing nothing and getting bored

 

LOL. Not hardly. It's definitely a challenge. I had break into the servers as all the user name and password combinations were no good. It's definitely been interesting, and will for any foreseeable future.

 

Two words....job security.

 

thrown into the deep end, eh freddy? well, it's good to hear you enjoy the new job, and that you'll be having your hands full. cleaning up a big ol' mess can be strangely gratifying.

 

Good luck Freddy! You've inspired me to stick linux and apache onto my spare box and start with a bit of self education.

 

Deep end indeed, and its the best way, I probably wouldnt of learnt half the things I have if I hadn't been thrown in the deep end in most of my positions, its a great way to start and an amazing learning curve for your environment.

I gotta say, this job is getting to be a lot of fun. I'm already starting to get some positive feedback too. Today I was asked if I wanted to attend a seminar on the other side of the state in March. They'll fly me over and back. They registered me and bought the airline tickets today....
